Infants & children under age 7 may be presented for the Sacrament of Baptism. Parents must be registered parishioners and attend Baptism Preparation Class. Baptisms are celebrated during weekend Masses and one Sunday each month at 12:30pm (except during Lent).
Before the baptism parents will also need to provide a copy of the child's birth certificate (or the hospital form with the footprint on it). Again this can be faxed or mailed or dropped off to the Parish Offices. (Fax: 972 542 7756 attn: Baptism)
Baptism Preparation Class.
When presenting a child for the Sacrament of Baptism, parents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation class. The classes are generally on the first Saturday of the month, from 10-11:30 in the St. Mary room. There is a $25.00 material fee for the Baptism Class. Reservations for the class are not required. We request no children attend. You only need to attend one class.

(If you have attended a class elsewhere in the past 2-3 years you can request a letter from that church be sent to St. Gabriel’s verifying that you have attended the class.) You may also attend the class at an area church and have a letter of verification sent to the St. Gabriel Parish Office.
Sacristy Record of Baptism
Before the class, parents need to complete the Sacristy Record of Baptism form and return it to the Parish office along with a $25.00 materials fee. After attending the class a date for the baptism can be arranged by Theresa Bichsel. Baptism at St. Gabriel is celebrated at all weekend masses and on one Sunday a month after the 11am Mass (about 12:30pm) Holiday weekends and 5pm masses are most popular.

Please return the Sacristy of Record Form and the $25.00 materials fee as soon as possible.
Godparents (Sponsors)
Godparent restrictions: ONE godparent must be a Confirmed & practicing Catholic, who is also in good standing with the church. (This means if married, they must have been married in the Catholic Church). They must have a letter from their current parish sent to the St. Gabriel Parish office to verify this. Please ask them to reference your child in the letter. The letter can be mailed, faxed or dropped off. The other godparent does not have to be Catholic and is considered a “Christian witness”.
From Canon Law #873
One sponsor, male or female, is sufficient; but there may be two, one of each sex.
[This means that there cannot be two of the same sex, and there cannot be more than two sponsors. The only possibilities are (1) no sponsor, (2) one sponsor, or (3) one sponsor of each sex. JFG]
