"Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment..."  Hebrews 13:3

Our ministry seeks to promote self-worth and hope to our imprisoned brothers and sisters.

The imprisoned have diverse needs. We may extend our outreach efforts to the imprisoned by assisting with instructional programs in life skills, by proclaiming the Word of God, and/or by taking Communion to the incarcerated. We may also serve as pen-pals.

The Ministry to the Imprisoned also works in conjunction with the Pro-Life Ministry to promote awareness of death penalty issues. We seek to abolish the death penalty.

Help Needed:  We correspond with inmates in Georgia and Texas, including inmates on Texas Death Row.  There are still many on our pen-pal waiting list, so your help is greatly needed!  To learn how to get involved with our pen-pal program please contact the Ministry to the Imprisoned Coordinator.

You could be a much-needed source of encouragement and friendship to a lonely prisoner. Visit Prison in an Envelope is a simple guide that explains how to write letters of encouragement and discipleship, and how to trouble-shoot typical problems that may arise.

"I was in prison and you visited me."  Matthew 25:36

Other areas of outreach:  We have helped with several different programs at the Collin County Detention Facility.  Some of the programs we have led are Employment After Prison and Effective Living on the Outside.  We have also taught a marriage enrichment class, a basic electronics course, helped in the GED lab and led Bible studies.  Our volunteer work at the CCDF is coordinated through the Programs Director there.

We have been so blessed to be able to take Communion to the imprisoned in Dallas County.  Deacons in the Diocese of Dallas oversee and coordinate this much needed outreach.  Each year these deacons and trained volunteers from parishes throughout the Diocese of Dallas visit, share the Eucharist and pray the Rosary with about 1,300 imprisoned men, women and youths.

If you are interested in helping in either of these areas of prison ministry, please contact the Ministry to the Imprisoned Coordinator.
