The following is a listing of local agencies which are available to serve people in need.  Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference developed this listing and keeps it up to date.  It is here for the use of all who need it themselves or for those who need to refer our neighbors to it.

Offers free basic medical services to families who fit certain income guidelines and who do not have health insurance or Medicaid and who reside in north Collin County (north, northeast and northwest of Allen.)  Capacity is limited.

assessment, therapy, community referrals, and medical evaluation coordination in a friendly, home-like environment.Offers diagnosis and evaluation, family support, counseling, medication-related services, and child and adolescent services.

Takes adults and children on sliding scale basis.  Full service including gynecological, pre-natal and nursing home.  No residence or citizenship requirements. In 2004 approximately 2000 patients from Collin County used this clinic. It is the best of all the non profit clinics in Collin County.

Social Service Agencies-General Assistance

Angel Food Ministries – 972-547-7041
A non-profit organization dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States for a minimal cost.  Groceries consist of: mixes, fresh fruit and frozen items.  McKinney Fellowship Bible Church is a host site for Angel Food Distribution.  Call the telephone number for current order and distribution dates.

Provides food, transportation and caregiver support primarily for older adults through Meals on Wheels and CCART.  Also serves meals at five senior centers at Celina, Farmersville, Frisco, McKinney and Plano

Offers help with electric bills, weatherization, replacing refrigerators or air conditioning systems that do not work, and gas in the winter.  Sometimes the recipient pays some of the cost and income is a factor in determining eligibility.  By appointment only.  Call to make an appointment first. The 800 number is the number all potential clients should call and then they will give out other numbers if necessary. Community Services serves ten counties.

Project Gabriel – 972-BABY DUE - 24 Hours
An outreach of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee of the Dallas Diocese.  Trained volunteers from our churches, called "Gabriel Angels", provide
emotional, spiritual, and material support to women facing crisis pregnancies.  Their help is caring, personal, and confidential.

The web site address for the home page of the Texas Workforce Commission is http://www.twc.state.tx.us/. One can use this site to register and search for work and to apply for unemployment benefits.
